Figured I might as well have some Scotch and browse cars, and since I know everyone loves to hear what I might won’t buy, I figured I’d post again.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I don’t think it’s a real contender for me. It’s got too many miles and is more than I want to pay for that many miles. Regardless of wether or not it should run for a while, things that aren’t the engine wear out and need to be replaced, and I don’t want to have to do the suspension on a car I just bought and have a loan on. Sure I could pay cash, but that’s not happening. As a result, I let my mind wander. It came back to the thought that I’ve had for a while, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?
So I decided to shop for one, and there’s not that many ones near me. This is, in fact, a good thing as I can’t go buy one on a whim. That said, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for a price I would pay.
Let’s ignore the fact that this is a 2010 and the head bolts might need to be done on that mighty 6.2L V8.
We can also ignore the fact that the interior in this isn’t the greatest.
What I don’t want to ignore is how much more I like the styling of the per-face lift W204s.
To me, it looks fantastic. Sure the E90 M3 is a better looking car, but that doesn’t mean this is also a great looking car. It’s also white, which is the color I wanted for my E90 M3.
So, for 23k would I buy it? Absolutely I would. I would forgive all the short comings to have it. In fact, I think I might start casually shopping for one.
By casually shopping, I mean I did see how much they’d give me for the 3.

That's not a terrible offer, really.

Really isn’t. It’s less than I’d like, but it’s not out of line with what a trade in would be.

Plus the convenience factor. H ow much a manual E92 is worth where you are on the private market?

Not really sure, probably 7-10k. I haven’t really seen a comparable E92 for sale. Thinking about listing it for sale and seeing if I get any hits.

That C-class interior is a fright and so is that trade offer! $10k would be a quick sell for that car, at least in the Bay Area. I love the outside of facelifted GLKs but the interior is very off putting. Glad Mercedes have improved their interior design dramatically since.

someday I’ll post about scoring a bottle of 50 y/o Macallan in the Highlands on a motorcycle trip many years ago... fond memories of that part of the world

That does sound like a pretty epic trip.

I think I could deal with the interior, it’s not great, but I think the rest of the car would offset that.
